Secmation is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead and scale the company's growth strategy, with a Huntsville-first focus on the U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and Government agencies.

Huntsville is Secmation's primary near-term growth market. However, as Director of Business Development, you will serve as the company-wide BD leader, responsible for defining and executing Secmation's overall growth strategy across all markets. While Huntsville is the first priority, this role will include Secmation's reach into new customers, agencies, and strategic partners beyond Huntsville as part of a targeted national growth plan.

You will establish BD operating rhythm, pipeline governance, capture discipline, and pursuit prioritization across the company. This position will build and scale Secmation's business development organization over time, adding BD, capture, and proposal resources as growth milestones are achieved.

This role reports directly to the CEO.

What You Will Do (Huntsville-First Focus)

  • Lead Secmation's Huntsville-first growth strategy, expanding the company's footprint across the U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the broader Redstone Arsenal ecosystem through a disciplined, teaming-driven approach.
  • Serve as the company-wide BD leader, owning pipeline governance, pursuit prioritization, and capture cadence across all markets while ensuring Huntsville remains the primary near-term growth engine.
  • Drive expansion beyond Huntsville, identifying and executing growth opportunities with additional DoD and federal customers aligned with Secmation's technical strengths.
  • Own capture strategy and execution from qualification through award, including win themes, partner strategy, competitive positioning, bid/no-bid decisions, and executive-level pursuit reviews.
  • Build and scale the BD organization, establishing repeatable processes, metrics, and operating rhythm, and adding BD/capture resources as growth milestones are achieved.
  • Partner with executive and technical leadership to align customer needs with Secmation's capabilities, while maintaining accurate forecasting and visibility into pipeline health.
  • Represent Secmation as a senior growth leader with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.


Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI strongly preferred; must be TS/SCI-eligible and/or able to obtain/restore TS/SCI
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of BD/capture experience in defense technology, software, and/or technical services (embedded systems, cybersecurity, C5

    ISR, RF/EW, autonomy)
  • 7+ years of related experience in U.S. Defense Business Development with a proven track record of business capture for technical services programs.
  • Established professional network within the Huntsville / Redstone Arsenal defense community.
  • Prior business development or capture experience supporting U.S. Army PAEs, AMCOM, DEVCOM, MDA, or related Huntsville-based organizations.
  • Experience across full lifecycle of business development activities to include market & customer research, capture management and proposal development.
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition (FAR/DFARS), contract vehicles (IDIQ and non-IDIQ), and pricing structures (FFP, T&M, cost-plus).
  • Proven track record in business development capture activities and leading captures for programs valued at more than $10M.
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, or scaling a business development or capture organization.
  • Experience managing pipeline portfolios across multiple customers or markets.
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into executable BD plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Must be willing to travel for the position.
Work Location and Position Type

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Huntsville, AL, with a strong preference for candidates who are already established in the local defense and government community. Regular in-person engagement with Huntsville-area customers, partners, and industry events is expected.

Workdays are Monday through Friday (workdays and hours may vary based on project needs).

This position requires necessary business travel estimated at approximately 30% of your time (this percentage varies based on location of candidate).
