Overview
The Director – Architecture Strategy & Transformation is a senior leadership role responsible for driving large-scale modernization and digital transformation across Wealth Management and Retail Banking platforms. This role provides enterprise-wide architectural leadership to define and execute target-state architectures, enabling scalable, secure, and client-centric platforms across Wealth Management & Advisory, Digital Wealth Platforms, Retail Banking, and Lending Ecosystems.
The role combines deep domain expertise with modern architecture practices to accelerate delivery of next-generation banking and wealth capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Transformation Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute multi-year transformation roadmaps across wealth and retail banking
- Drive legacy modernization (mainframe to cloud-native, monolith to microservices)
- Align architecture strategy with business priorities including Digital wealth growth, Lending transformation, and Client experience modernization
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leadership
- Target-State Architecture & Modernization
- Define target architectures leveraging Cloud-native platforms, API-first and microservices architectures, and Event-driven systems
- Lead architecture for Wealth and advisory platforms, Digital banking and advisor channels, and Lending (origination and servicing)
- Establish architecture standards, patterns, and governance
- Wealth & Banking Domain Architecture
- Driving architecture transformation towards target state:
Portfolio management, trading, and advisory platforms - Digital wealth (mobile/web, personalization)
- Core banking (deposits, payments, integration)
- Lending systems (origination, servicing, credit decisioning)
- Enable omnichannel client and advisor experiences
- Risk, Security & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Regulatory standards (SEC, FINRA, OCC) and Data privacy (GDPR, CCPA)
- Embed Secure-by-design and Zero Trust principles and Identity and access management
- Lead architecture governance and design authority
- Leadership & Organizational Impact
- Lead and collaborate with multiple architecture teams and managers
- Oversee budgeting, planning, and resource strategy
- Drive standards, best practices, and technical debt reduction
- Influence senior stakeholders and executives across business and technology
- Mentor architects and foster a culture of innovation and accountability
Experience
15+ years of experience in technology, including architecture leadership roles. Proven track record delivering large-scale transformation initiatives in Wealth Management and Retail Banking and Lending.
Technical & Domain Expertise
Strong experience with modern architecture (cloud, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems);
Wealth platforms (advisory, portfolio management, trading);
Digital banking and lending ecosystems;
Deep understanding of enterprise architecture, integration patterns, and data platforms.
Leadership Skills
Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence;
Ability to manage complex, cross-functional teams and priorities;
Strategic thinking with strong execution focus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (Masters degree and managerial experience optional).
