Position: Application Production Support - Assistant Vice President

Responsibilities
  • Provides technical and business support for users of Citi Applications, resolving issues to enhance stability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Maintains application systems that have completed development and are running in daily operations.
  • Manages, maintains, and supports applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality, and functionality against service‑level expectations.
  • Performs start‑of‑day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover.
  • Conducts same‑day risk reconciliations.
  • Develops and maintains technical support documentation.
  • Identifies ways to maximize the potential of applications.
  • Assesses risk and impact of production issues and escalates to business and technology management in a timely manner.
  • Ensures storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly.
  • Formulates and defines scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Reviews and develops application contingency planning to ensure availability to users.
  • Partners with development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
  • Participates in application releases, from development, testing, and deployment into production.
  • Engages in post‑implementation analysis to ensure successful system design and functionality.
  • Considers implications of technology application to the current environment and identifies risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues; communicates impact.
  • Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps define operating standards and processes.
  • Acts as a liaison between users/traders, interfacing internal technology groups and vendors.
  • Raises problems to appropriate technology and business teams while adhering to service‑level agreements.
  • Actively advises or coaches new or lower‑level analysts.
  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated and unique situations.
  • Directly impacts the business by ensuring the quality of work provided by self and others.
  • Exhibits sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information.
  • Owns support project items covering stability, efficiency, and effectiveness initiatives.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Operates with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Exercises independence of judgment and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders or other team members.
  • Assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrates consideration for the firm’s reputation, and drives compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Recommended Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience in an Application Support role.
  • Experience in Incident Management and Problem Management.
  • Production Support, Build & Release Management.
  • Experience with Red Hat Open Shift, Shell/Python scripting.
  • Application troubleshooting, usage guidance, and technical queries.
  • Experience with operating systems such as Linux & UNIX.
  • Knowledge of Java, JSP, Servlets, and Web Sphere technologies.
  • Experience installing, configuring, or supporting business applications.
  • Some programming language experience and willingness/ability to learn.
  • Advanced execution capabilities and ability to adapt quickly to changes and re‑prioritization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical issues in simple terms to non‑IT staff.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Issue tracking and reporting using tools.
  • Knowledge/experience of Problem Management tools.
  • Good all‑round technical skills.
  • Effectively shares information with other support team members and technology teams.
  • Ability to plan and organize workload.
  • Consistency in clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholders.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or university degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent field.
