The Applications Development Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to drive application systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage one or more Applications Development teams to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team (e.g., performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions).
  • Utilize in‑depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas to provide technical oversight across systems and applications.
  • Work closely with business users, stakeholders, BAs, product managers, and other development teams to understand problem space, brainstorm ideas, approaches, and solutions.
  • Understand integrating APIs with third‑party libraries/vendors and handle the security around it.
  • Accountable for providing architectural guidance to SDEs based on best practices and in alignment with CTO guidelines and platform.
  • Manage Citi’s technology infrastructure, including software, hardware, and procured products.
  • Partner with Support team to ensure stability of the production environment with proactive monitoring and health checks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement continuous improvement and the induction of new technology, including influence in scrum teams beyond one’s own area of focus.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, assets, and driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and ethical judgment. Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
  • 6‑10 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience as Applications Development Manager.
  • Experience as senior level in an applications development role.
  • Stakeholder and people management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
Technical Skills
  • Programming

    Languages:

    Python (expert proficiency required)
  • Python Packages:
    Transformers, Lang Chain, Llama Index, Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Pandas, Num Py, Scikit‑learn, Flask/Django, and other relevant data science, machine learning, and web development libraries.
  • Deep Learning Frameworks:
    Tensor Flow, Py Torch
  • LLMs:
    Llama, Gemini, GPT‑4, and other advanced LLMs.
  • Vector Databases:
    Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, Faiss, Postgre

    SQL with vector extensions (pgvector).
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • MLOps Tools: MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar.
  • Containerization:
    Docker, Kubernetes
  • CI/CD Tools:
    Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Version Control:
    Git
  • Data Visualization & Reporting:
    Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, seaborn.
  • Databases: SQL and No

    SQL databases.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
