Position Overview
The Vice President, eCommerce & DOM Engineering and Architecture is the senior technology leader accountable for the engineering organization, technical architecture, and platform health of Signet’s customer-facing eCommerce and Distributed Order Management ecosystem across our brand portfolio. The VP owns the technical direction of SAP Commerce Cloud, IBM Sterling OMS, Akamai CDN/WAF, and the integrated commerce stack — translating customer experience priorities into resilient, scalable, and cost-effective technology outcomes.
This is a leader-first role. The VP builds trust-based partnerships with senior business executives, empowers a team of Sr. Director-level leaders, and ensures technology is a competitive advantage for Signet’s brands — not just a delivery function.
Core Accountabilities Engineering & Talent Leadership- Lead, coach, and develop Sr. Directors and their organizations across eCommerce engineering, architecture, and DOM; act as a force multiplier who elevates direct reports rather than operating tactically.
- Set the engineering operating model, talent strategy, and FTE-to-contingent workforce mix in partnership with HR and Finance.
- Champion engineering culture and team health; establish DX/DORA-aligned metrics to measure delivery quality over time.
- Lead the team’s evolution toward an AI-assisted development model, progressively reducing dependence on external contractor capacity.
- Build peer-level relationships with senior executives across Digital Product, Marketing, Merchandising, Store Operations, Customer Care, and Finance.
- Translate CX strategy and brand priorities into a coherent technical roadmap anchored in customer outcomes, not technical preference.
- Represent the eCommerce/DOM technology agenda in executive forums; communicate risks and trade-offs in business terms.
- Own the multi-year technical architecture and platform roadmap anchored on SAP Commerce Cloud v2 and IBM Sterling OMS, covering CMS, search, and edge security.
- Set and enforce architectural standards and guardrails supporting a multi-brand, multi-country footprint.
- Drive evaluation and adoption of emerging commerce technologies in partnership with the broader Digital & Technology organization.
- Drive predictable, high-quality delivery of the eCommerce and DOM portfolio in partnership with Digital Product and Personalization leadership.
- Own strategic vendor and SI relationships (SAP, IBM, Akamai); hold partners accountable to outcomes, SLAs, and economics.
- Own availability, performance, and incident-response posture for revenue-critical platforms; partner with Info Sec on WAF, edge protection, and PCI requirements.
- Establish platform SLOs, peak-readiness, and DR posture; drive continuous improvement of observability and release engineering practices.
- Own the operating budget, capital plan, and total cost of ownership for the eCommerce/DOM technology portfolio.
- Drive vendor optimization, license rationalization, and workforce conversions that improve economics and capability.
- MBA or technical Master’s preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
- 12+ years of progressive technology leadership in eCommerce, digital commerce, or omnichannel retail.
- Proven experience leading engineering organizations at scale, including Sr. Director-level leaders and their teams, with a preference for empowering over operating tactically.
- SAP Commerce Cloud (v2/Composable), IBM Sterling OMS, and CDN/WAF in a multi-brand, multi-country retail context.
- Track record of peer-level partnerships with senior business executives (VP+) across Digital, Marketing, Merchandising, Store Operations, and Finance.
- Demonstrated focus on customer experience outcomes — partnering with Product and Design to translate CX strategy into engineering roadmaps.
- Strong financial acumen including budget and capital-plan ownership; comfort operating in a matrixed environment.
- Omnichannel retail or consumer complexity required; specialty retail or jewelry experience preferred.
- Coppell, TX preferred.
- Travel approximately 15–20% domestic and occasional international.
