Business Systems Analyst – Project Management Platforms
Location: Shared Services Office, Irving, TX (Hybrid)
Reports To: Director, BSA – Project Management Platforms
Summary: Project Ignite is a large‑scale transformation program uniting 20+ operating companies onto a single Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Project Operations platform. As a Business Systems Analyst on the Project Management Platforms workstream you will sit at the intersection of Sales, Project Managers, Field Service teams, and Accounting, supporting the full project lifecycle – from opportunity and contract through resource deployment, time and expense capture, project billing, and revenue recognition.
Your contributions shape a standardized deployment factory that is replicated across many entities.
- Template Design & Deployment Factory
- Participate in agile sprint cycles, design and configure the D365 Project Operations core template.
- Evaluate design decisions for scalability and repeatability, aiming for an 80% standardized template.
- Maintain a Design Decision Log documenting rationale and fit/gap outcomes.
- Support wave planning and discovery sprints, assessing process variation and customization needs.
- Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with Sales on opportunity management, contract setup, billing milestones, and handoff to Project Operations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on planning, resource assignments, task structures, time and expense workflows, milestone tracking, and health reporting.
- Coordinate with Field Service teams on work order management, scheduling, mobile time capture, and integration into cost and billing.
- Requirements & Process Design
- Lead or support requirements workshops for Accounting & Finance, translate needs for billing, revenue recognition, WIP, inter‑company transactions, and reconciliation.
- Perform fit/gap analysis and recommend configuration‑first solutions.
- Translate business requirements into functional design specifications and user stories for Solution Architects and the SI team.
- Map end‑to‑end lifecycle processes, identify integration touchpoints, and document handoff gaps.
- Delivery & Quality
- Collaborate with architects, integration engineers, data migration analysts, and QA to ensure configuration quality.
- Develop and execute end‑to‑end UAT test scenarios covering cross‑functional flows.
- Support data migration planning, cutover planning, and hyper‑care support at go‑live.
- Triage and resolve post‑go‑live issues, distinguishing configuration defects from training gaps or scope.
- Knowledge Transfer & Capability Building
- Create user guides, process flows, and training materials tailored to each stakeholder group.
- Contribute to the program playbook, capturing discovery patterns, fit/gap findings, and standards.
- Assist onboarding of future BSA team members and support internal capability growth.
- General Duties
- Authored documentation, research projects, and special projects as needed.
- Conduct work in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner, adhering to company policies and the Code of Conduct.
- Process‑first orientation with focus on end‑to‑end workflow.
- Stakeholder diplomacy across Sales, Finance, and Field Service.
- Standardization discipline and documentation rigor.
- Ownership through go‑live and post‑launch support.
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast‑moving environments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science or related field; MBA or Master’s preferred.
- 3–8 years of experience in ERP or project‑management platform implementations, with depth in D365 Project Operations.
- Hands‑on experience with a full‑cycle implementation or major functional rollout.
- Proven cross‑functional experience; functional‑only candidates may be challenged.
- Strong understanding of project‑based business models and related financial concepts.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills; ability to navigate conflicting priorities.
- Experience with D365 Field Service and mapping between Project Operations and F&O financials.
- Microsoft MB‑280, MB‑240, or Project Operations certification is a plus.
