Data Center Technician IILocation: 6431 Longhorn Dr, Irving, TX 75063 (Las Colinas)
Work Model: 100% onsite (no remote)
Duration: 3-month contract to hire (must convert to FTE)
Work Authorization: US Citizen or Green Card only
Salary Target: $70K - 80k
OverviewThe Data Center Technician II supports the day-to-day operations of UTSW’s Data Center Services organization, focusing on physical server infrastructure, incident response, and execution of data center work orders within a mission-critical healthcare environment.
This is a hands‑on, operational role requiring strong troubleshooting skills, server administration experience, and the ability to work in a 24/7 data center environment supporting critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Data Center Operations & Infrastructure- Monitor and respond to failures across power, hardware, network, and facility systems
- Analyze alerts/events and determine root causes
- Execute work orders and implement infrastructure upgrades
- Perform hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and remediation
- Maintain awareness of data center standards and best practices
- Respond to incidents in a timely manner and restore service
- Track issues and document remediation
- Troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues
- Support operational continuity in a high‑availability environment
- Install and route Ethernet and fiber cabling
- Support server installs, decommissions, and infrastructure changes
- Assist with physical data center operations
- Perform shipping/receiving of equipment
- Maintain asset tracking and inventory accuracy
- Support audits and equipment verification
- Partner with technicians, engineers, and IT teams
- Communicate with internal customers and stakeholders
- Support ongoing projects and operational improvements
- 2–3+ years of data center or server/infrastructure support
- Hands‑on experience with server hardware
- Experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Experience working in operational or infrastructure‑heavy environments
- Server administration (Windows required; Linux exposure a plus)
- Ability to read logs and troubleshoot server issues
- Hardware diagnostics and remediation
- Basic networking and cabling (fiber + ethernet)
- Incident response and root cause analysis
- Asset management and documentation
- Data center environment experience
- Enterprise server environment exposure
- Associate’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 100% onsite role
- 24/7 data center environment with shift flexibility required
- May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on‑call/paging
- Supports a mission‑critical healthcare infrastructure
