The Business Intelligence and Analytics Lead is a critical role within the Media team, responsible for leading a team of Business Intelligence Analysts and driving data‑driven decision‑making across the organization. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to effectively manage data sourcing, analysis, reporting, and integration efforts.
The Media Sciences team leads the transformation of Citi’s media investment and measurement, delivering positive return on marketing investment and future‑proofing our business. The team works in close partnership with US and Global Digital Media, Analytics, Acquisitions, Advertising and Product Management teams.
Key Responsibilities- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze business data, generate reports, and create compelling data visualizations using business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Develop and maintain dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Data Integration: Lead and design the data integration processes, ensuring data consistency and reliability. Work with external vendors and internal technology teams to navigate data landscape and regulations, sharing agreements, and integrate data from multiple data sources into a centralized data warehouse or reporting environment.
- Stakeholder management: Partner with business stakeholders and identify business reporting requirements and business questions from marketing stakeholders, transforming them into key metrics and measurement outputs. Ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct in‑depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, and provide recommendations for advanced analytics to sharpen business decisioning.
- Leadership and team management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business intelligence analysts, ensuring the successful development and implementation of measurement tools. Oversee day‑to‑day reporting and deliverables, foster a culture of continuous learning, and ensure high performance and career growth for team members.
- Vendor Management: Cultivate and lead strategic relationships with key data and media vendors, keeping abreast of latest features and capabilities of BI tools and platforms.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the end‑to‑end project lifecycle, from data collection, data structure and framework, QA, resource and timeline management and deployment. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, tools and analyses. Experience in commercialization and go‑to‑market for analytics projects is a plus.
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience within data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, either on the client side, agency side or publisher side.
- Highly analytical, with a proven ability to distill data and numbers into business outcomes, derive and communicate strategic insights and implications for senior leadership.
- Strong proficiency in BI tools and platforms such as Datorama, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and ETL processes.
- Clear understanding of benefits and limitations of reporting platforms in terms of breadth of visualization options, customizability, interactivity, connectivity to databases, near‑real‑time updates etc.
- Experience working with large datasets and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
- Outstanding data storytelling skills, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing and engaging executive‑level stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
- Should be able to independently own and project manage work streams involving multiple stakeholders, show strong sense of accountability and decisiveness, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Must be ready for hands‑on involvement in measurement to identify roadblocks and uncover solutions, operate with curiosity and be hypothesis driven.
