IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST - ERP SYSTEMS

Job Description

JOB TITLE: Business Systems Analyst - ERP Systems

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

FUNDING SOURCE: Local

REPORTS TO: Director of Information Systems

DEPARTMENT: Information Systems and Servers

DATE REVISED: 7/22/2026

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

The Business Systems Analyst - ERP Systems makes the District's applications work for the people who depend on them: learning how a department operates, asking the right questions, and turning the answer into a configured, tested, well-documented system. The deep specialty is the District's Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) platform and the human resources, payroll, and finance business processes that run on it: the configuration, workflow business rules, security, queries, reporting, and standard data imports and exports that keep those processes moving.

Munis is largely packaged (out-of-the-box) software, so the value of this role is understanding what the system can do and configuring it well to fit the District's processes, not writing it from scratch. This is also a generalist analyst who can step into any District system (student, HR, or finance), learn it quickly, and give users and owners a clear answer.

Qualifications

Minimum

Education/Certification:
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience and a track record of delivering student or business solutions.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Proficiency administering a packaged ERP application (user, role, and security provisioning; workflow business rules; code and table configuration; output/printer setup; and standard data import/export configurations).
  • Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, including the ability to read an application's database schema.
  • Report and dashboard development against business data.
  • Command of the software development lifecycle and business-analysis methodology: requirements elicitation, current-state/future-state process mapping, SDLC, QA/UAT, and change-and-release management.
  • Adaptability: ramps on unfamiliar systems fast and translates fluently between business needs and technical solutions.
  • Strong project-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with clear written and verbal communication and the persistence to deliver under deadline and pressure.
  • Working knowledge of student, staff, and financial data privacy and security, and of segregation-of-duties and internal controls in payroll and accounts payable.
  • Effective and responsible use of AI:
Uses District-approved AI tools to raise the quality and speed of work, keeps protected data out of non-approved tools, verifies output before relying on it, and retains personal accountability for results.
  • Preferred:
Experience in a K-12 district or other public-sector organization, and with public-sector HR, payroll, and finance business processes (position control, salary schedules, TRS, stipends, fiscal year-end, purchasing, accounts payable, and grants/projects).
  • Preferred:
Hands-on Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) and Tyler Content Manager (TCM) experience.
  • Preferred:
Familiarity with the District's application stack (e.g., UKG Ready, eSchoolPlus, Tyler Hub, Power BI, TSDS/PEIMS, Laserfiche) and reporting and analytics tooling (SSRS, Python, DAX).
  • Preferred:
Experience with statutory reporting that draws on the ERP (state financial/PEIMS finance, TRS, and ACA).
Minimum Experience
  • 3-5 years analyzing, configuring, supporting, and testing software backed by a relational database, ideally on a team in an Information Systems department.
  • A minimum of two (2) years supporting or implementing a packaged ERP or HR/finance system (Tyler Enterprise ERP / Munis preferred), including configuration, security/role administration, and upgrade testing.
Major Responsibilities And Duties

Essential Functions, organized by key accountability. The employee must be able to perform each of the following, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Works independently under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, exercising discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance without day-to-day technical oversight.

ERP (Munis) Application Administration

Outcome: the ERP application stays healthy, secure, correctly configured, properly licensed, and reliable for HR, payroll, and finance.

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) application: user accounts, roles and permission sets, security and least-privilege access across HR, payroll, and finance modules, output and printer assignments, and code and table configuration.
  • Configure and maintain workflow business rules, approvals, and notifications within the ERP.
  • Coordinate and test ERP and Tyler Content Manager (TCM) version upgrades, patches, and releases with…
