Role Overview
The VMware Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise virtualization, private cloud, and hybrid cloud solutions in Irving, Texas. This full‑time on‑site position requires technical leadership of VMware platforms to ensure scalability, security, high availability, and performance aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Architecture & Design
- Design and implement VMware-based infrastructure solutions using VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Aria (vRealize), Horizon VDI, NSX‑T, HCX, and VCF.
- Develop reference architectures, standards and best practices for virtualization platforms.
- Define infrastructure roadmaps and technology modernization strategies.
- Lead capacity planning, performance engineering, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Platform Management
- Architect and optimize ESXi clusters, DRS, HA, storage architectures (SAN/NAS/NFS/iSCSI), and vDS.
- Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery and resiliency designs.
- Design secure multi‑site and hybrid cloud deployments.
- Cloud & Automation
- Integrate with Azure VMware Solution and VMware Cloud Private Cloud platforms.
- Develop automation using PowerCLI, Power Shell, Python, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools to drive self‑service provisioning and orchestration.
- Security & Compliance
- Design secure virtualization environments.
- Implement VMware NSX micro‑segmentation, virtual networking security, identity integration, and compliance controls.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards.
- Operations & Governance
- Provide L3/L4 technical leadership and escalation support.
- Conduct architecture reviews and technical governance sessions.
- Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents and participate in change, incident, problem, and capacity management processes.
- Collaborate with server, network, storage, cloud, and security teams.
- Stakeholder Management
- Work with business and application teams to understand infrastructure requirements.
- Present architecture solutions to senior leadership and customers.
- Mentor engineers and administrators on VMware technologies.
- 8–10 years of experience as a VMware Server Administrator.
- Proficient in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Aria (vRealize), Horizon VDI, NSX‑T, HCX, and VCF.
- Experience with Azure VMware Solution, VMware Cloud Private Cloud, PowerCLI, Power Shell, Python, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, micro‑segmentation, and compliance in virtual environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $158,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Employees are eligible for a full range of standard benefits, including medical, dental, disability insurance, paid time off (inc. sick leave), and other paid and unpaid leave options.
