Description
Summary:
The Cyber Security Engineer I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the organization's cybersecurity operations and helping to protect systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and security leadership, this role assists with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of security tools and technologies. The Cyber Security Engineer I also helps identify vulnerabilities, analyze security incidents, and support compliance with cybersecurity policies and standards.
Responsibilities:

Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. - Security Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitors security alerts and events using tools like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
- Assists in analyzing suspicious activity and escalating potential threats to senior team members.
- Maintains documentation of alerts and incident responses.
- Vulnerability Management
- Supports regular vulnerability scans of systems, applications, and networks.
- Tracks and reports on identified vulnerabilities and help coordinate remediation efforts.
- Assists with patch management and follow-up testing.
- Security Tool Support
- Assists in the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of cybersecurity tools (e.g., antivirus, endpoint detection, firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
- Works with IT teams to ensure security controls are properly implemented.
- Incident Response
- Participates in security incident investigations under supervision.
- Collects and preserves evidence for forensic analysis.
- Documents findings and contribute to post-incident reviews.
- Policy & Compliance Support
- Helps enforce information security policies and procedures.
- Assists with compliance audits and data collection efforts.
- Stays current on cybersecurity regulations and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Security Awareness
- Helps deliver security awareness and training materials to employees.
- Supports phishing simulations and user behavior analysis.
- Research & Development
- Stays updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Participates in learning and development opportunities, including cybersecurity certifications and internal training.
Education/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience, preferred
- 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT support, or related technical field preferred
- Familiarity with basic cybersecurity principles, tools, and technologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Two or more of the following certifications preferred:
- CYSA
- Security+
- Network+
- CISA
8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday
