We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Criminal Defense Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, with the ability to navigate complex legal issues affecting individuals entangled in the criminal justice system. This position involves representing clients in court, providing legal advice, and advocating for their rights.
Key Responsibilities- Represent clients in criminal defense and proceedings, including hearings and appeals.
- Provide legal counsel to clients regarding the implications of criminal charges.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on relevant laws and regulations.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including motions, briefs, and applications for relief.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
- Keep clients informed about their cases and provide regular updates on legal strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in criminal law, and relevant case law.
- Conduct community outreach and education on criminal issues.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in criminal defense and post‑conviction relief.
- Strong understanding of the criminal legal system.
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency.
- Commitment to social justice and client‑centered advocacy.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
