Overview
The Field Procurement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the procurement process and activities at a specific project site or location. This includes ordering and tracking materials and supplies, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely data entry related to job site needs. The role is safety sensitive.
Responsibilities- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective operations and customer service.
- Assist project team and instill best practices regarding onsite procurement processes and productivity.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Establish priorities across multiple areas of operations.
- Act as the key point of contact onsite for procurement to ensure established practices are followed.
- Provide assistance and support regarding material requests, sourcing, orders, and tracking.
- Track project purchase orders to ensure timely delivery, addressing delays, shortages, or quality issues with suppliers.
- Collaborate with logistics, warehouse and inventory teams to monitor inventory levels and prevent stockouts or overstock.
- Assist projects with the execution of the project‑specific procurement plan.
- Cooperate with off‑site construction, warehousing, logistics, and outside suppliers to meet material requirements.
- Respond timely to inquiries from internal customers and suppliers about order status, changes, returns, cancellations, and assist with resolutions.
- Drive systems and procedures to allow the highest level of productivity and safest execution of tasks, while adhering to company procedures and relevant regulations.
- Understand, plan, and execute onsite requirements through meeting attendance, available systems, documents, and collaboration with other trades and onsite leadership.
- Coordinate with project leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement through procurement processes, value‑added services, and onsite support.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities; manage procurement key performance indicators and report these to appropriate leaders.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of procurement processes and Lean techniques.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of the department.
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing tools and general construction materials.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Pass drug and background checks.
- Excellent leadership skills, goal setting, motivation, decision making, problem solving and strategic planning.
- Effective communication skills (writing, speaking, active listening).
- Great interpersonal skills – build trust with others and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional manuals, worksite directions, and written instructions.
- Analyze tool and material requests for preparation of delivery schedule.
- Understanding of procurement and warehouse software and technology.
- Excellent customer service and exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with inventory control practices and logistics.
- Excellent judgment and delegation skills based on team strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to work in different weather conditions.
- Develop relationships with leaders, direct reports, and others that facilitate open dialogue and trust.
- Willingness to travel 0%‑100% of the time to various locations across the U.S.
The job may involve working inside or outside with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures, weather elements, restricted or confined spaces, slippery or uneven surfaces, and typical construction exposures such as ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and catwalks. The role also operates in an office setting using standard office equipment.
Physical Demands- Traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, standing, or stretching.
