Position: Supply Chain Internship - Irving, TX (Summer 2027)

PURPOSE

Gain industry and organizational knowledge through hands‑on experience supporting the Transportation and Logistics team. The Transportation Intern will assist with rail transportation operations, logistics coordination, shipment tracking, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing an understanding of supply chain and transportation processes within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Work is performed under direct supervision and provides exposure to cross‑functional business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Transportation team with daily logistics and rail transportation activities.
  • Support shipment tracking, railcar movement monitoring, and transportation performance reporting.
  • Gather, analyze, and organize transportation data to support operational decision‑making and special projects.
  • Assist in maintaining transportation records, carrier information, and shipment documentation.
  • Partner with Transportation Coordinators and cross‑functional teams, including Supply Chain, Customer Service, Operations, and Procurement, to support timely product movement.
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvements that increase transportation efficiency and visibility.
  • Assist with freight, rail, and logistics reporting, including service performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Attend team meetings, project discussions, and operational reviews to gain exposure to transportation planning and execution.
  • Support transportation‑related projects focused on cost optimization, service improvement, and network efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Preferred junior or senior standing; other class levels will be considered.
  • Interest in transportation, logistics, supply chain operations, or rail transportation.
  • Ability to work onsite and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Coursework or exposure to Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Operations, or Data Analytics.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems, ERP systems, or logistics software is a plus.
  • Interest in rail transportation, freight operations, or industrial supply chain networks.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms is preferred.

  • Interest in transportation operations, logistics coordination, and rail freight processes.
