The Associate Vice President (AVP), Accounts Payable Solutions is a senior leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and operating Vizient’s Accounts Payable (AP) capabilities within the broader Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Solutions portfolio. This role will lead the development of technology enabled services designed to streamline and automate the end-to-end accounts payable lifecycle for healthcare providers, including invoice receipt, processing, exception management, and payment.

As a key leader creating this newly established service line, the AVP will define the strategy, operating model, and go-to-market approach for AP solutions, ensuring alignment with client needs, market trends, and Vizient’s broader revenue and growth objectives. This individual will partner closely with product strategy, product development, sales, and marketing teams to deliver differentiated solutions that drive measurable value for clients.

The AVP will oversee the operational delivery of outsourced accounts payable services, including management of a high-performing team of AP professionals. The role carries full accountability for service delivery, quality, client satisfaction, financial performance, and continuous improvement, while serving as a subject matter expert to both internal stakeholders and external clients.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a team of Account Payable professionals, including hiring, performance management, and ongoing management and development.
  • Build and scale a high-performing shared services center comprised of accounts payable experts who support healthcare clients who have chosen to outsource their AP function to Vizient.
  • Lead the development and execution of Vizient’s Accounts Payable Solutions strategy, including service offerings, operating model, and growth roadmap.
  • Build and scale a technology enabled AP service line that automates invoice receipt, processing, exception management, and payment workflows.
  • Partner with product strategy and development teams to evaluate, prioritize, and/or buy innovative AP technologies that improve accounts payable operational efficiency.
  • Conduct market research and gather client insights to identify unmet needs, industry trends, and competitive dynamics within healthcare accounts payable.
  • Own and manage department-level financial performance, including P&L accountability, cost management, and revenue growth.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in client engagements, supporting sales and account management teams to help close large, strategic sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, sales collateral, and thought leadership content.
  • Identify, evaluate, and support potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships that further enhance Vizient’s AP capabilities and market position.
  • Establish and promote best practices across the full AP lifecycle, from invoice intake through payment, including exception handling and process optimization.
  • Lead RFP responses and solution design for prospective clients.
  • Partner with legal to review, negotiate, and finalize customer contracts and service agreements.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic insights to P2P leadership and executive stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare accounts payable leadership operations or Accounts Payable consulting/services.
  • Proven experience building, centralizing, automating, and optimizing healthcare accounts payable functions at scale.
