POSITION FUNCTION:
This individual will be responsible for a variety of sports sponsored by the Big 12 Conference, including leading head coaches’ group, managing the day‑to‑day operation of the regular season and execution of championship events. This position ensures the strategic success of assigned sports at both the conference and national levels and is the subject matter expert of those sports. This role reports to the Associate Vice President
- Olympic Competition.
- Responsible for all facets of assigned sports, including leading the head coaches’ group, managing regular‑season policies, and enforcement and leading the execution of championship events.
- Strategically positioning assigned sports for success at the conference and national level.
- Responsible for championship logistics for sports, including but not limited to management and tracking of shipments.
- Be subject matter expert with each assigned sport, including rules, officiating, awards.
- Serve as secondary sport manager for various sports.
- Expense management and revenue generation manager for assigned sports, including venue contracts for neutral site championships.
- Assist with additional neutral site championships.
- Support other championship events and NCAA events hosted by the Conference as needed.
- Lead with communications staff for assigned sports.
- Maintain assigned annual sport documents to include but not limited to policy and procedures that governs the regular season and championship operations.
- Assist with regular season scheduling, as applicable.
- Assist in the development of strategic conference scheduling parameters to enhance linear opportunities for assigned sports.
- Oversight of Olympic competition’s on‑campus championship signage including identifying needs, inventory and shipping.
- Travel and ability to work long, flexible hours including gamedays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Additional duties as assigned.
The Big 12 enters its 30th year as one of the nation’s premier conferences in college athletics under the leadership of Commissioner Brett Yormark. Since joining the Conference in August 2022, Yormark has elevated the Big 12 to new heights, emphasizing marketing, brand building and instilling an innovative strategy that has resonated across the college athletics landscape. Starting Aug. 2, 2024, the Conference is composed of 16 universities spanning 10 states and four time zones.
The Big 12 members include Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and West Virginia. The Big 12 began play in 1996 and is the home of 87 team NCAA national championships, and 764 individual national champions. The Big 12 Conference office is located in Irving, Texas.
