Worth Ross Management Company (WRMC) is a full-service, AAMC-accredited association management firm headquartered in Irving (Dallas), Texas, with additional offices in Austin, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Denver, Colorado. The Controller of Association Accounting oversees client accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely financial management and service delivery across GL, AP, AR, Treasury, Compliance, and future accounting sub-departments. This role provides strategic leadership, partners with operations leadership, and interfaces with clients and boards to address accounting-related matters, strengthen financial communication, and improve reporting products and departmental efficiency.
The Controller of Association Accounting provides exemplary service consistent with WRMC’s values and mission by ensuring financial packets and accounting services align with company objectives. This role also facilitates resolution of accounting-related issues between communities and internal support staff within established policies and precedents.
Work Environment:This position requires a proactive leader who can manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Controller will work closely with various departments and must possess the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
- Guides financial controls by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects association cash assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Develops and monitors financial performance metrics for the department and delegates the collection of those metrics appropriately.
- Supervises all Association Accounting sub-departments, including GL, AP, AR, Treasury, Compliance, and any future accounting functions, while leading directors, managers, and team leaders to achieve departmental goals.
- Prepares cadenced reporting by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Directly ensure closing deadlines are met by the team and financial packets are delivered according to company expectations to the clients.
- Responds to accounting-related inquiries and escalations from board members, clients, and operational leadership, collaborating across teams to resolve issues and maintain service level agreement deliverables.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels for accounting department by working closely with sub department leaders and recommending any modifications to staffing levels and/or strategy when needed to the executive team.
- Supervise Treasury and manage access for bank-related systems within the established controls and process of the company. Manages any escalations related to Treasury operations.
- Supervise Compliance operations related to annual audit process for clients financials.
- Drives accounting department results by leading, coaching, mentoring and counseling employees when needed.
- Coordinates and collaborates with various accounting software vendors on improving workflows and technology stack. Oversees and manages any accounting software projects.
