Responsible for leading the department when the Supervisor is unavailable. Responsible for ensuring department runs efficiently, meeting all department goals and objectives. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System Principles.

- Receive assignments from shift supervisor; determine daily tasks to be completed in department during shift and direct associates accordingly
- Coordinate on-the-job training and cross-training with co-workers and newly hired associates
- Address and resolve issues through the Quality Improvement Process and the Work Order Request System
- Assist Shift Supervisor in developing and complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assuring compliance by associates
- Participate actively in team meetings; represent the shift issues and concerns to management, participate in issue resolution, and communicate information from management back to the team
- Facilitate communication within the department, across shifts and departments, and with the shift supervisor
- Complete
-if down, do- lists as necessary - Complete safety observations as assigned
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance as well as working overtime, as needed
- Hold all employees accountable to act in accordance at all times with Kroger Values and Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems
- Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergens
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Effective verbal communication
- Must be forklift certified
- Basic math skills
- Previous food manufacturing experience
