Primary Function
Fabrication is responsible for overseeing all shop floor activities related to production, quality control, and safety during the second shift. This role ensures delivery schedules are met while maintaining labor efficiency and cost control. The supervisor monitors daily production output to meet established standards, supports equipment maintenance, and provides hands‑on assistance when necessary. In addition to managing personnel and workflow, the position includes operating fabrication machinery, driving Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV), performing welding tasks as needed, and training employees on the safe and efficient use of machinery and industrial vehicles.
The supervisor plays a key role in fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training in all fabrication areas, including equipment, software, and company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate daily with Customer Service and Warehouse to ensure on‑time delivery and maintain high customer service standards.
- Maintain strict compliance with safety, housekeeping, and all government and company standards.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor production schedules, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure output meets established standards.
- Supervise assigned employees, manage overtime needs, and allocate resources effectively.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and equipment setup functions.
- Operate fabrication machinery as needed to maintain workflow continuity.
- Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV), such as forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Perform welding operations to join metal components to pipe(s) including repairing weld defects or damaged fittings to ensure leak‑proof standards.
- Train employees on the safe and efficient operation of fabrication machinery and industrial vehicles (including PIVs).
- Perform loading/unloading materials and preparing bundles for shipment using PIVs such as combi‑lift when necessary.
- Provide coverage for additional responsibilities during manager’s absence and handle other tasks as required to meet company and customer needs.
