Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician ensures food manufacturing lines operate safely and efficiently by performing mechanical repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance on production equipment. This role supports continuous production by troubleshooting issues, maintaining equipment reliability, and working closely with the maintenance team in a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on food and beverage production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues on production lines and identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Repair and adjust production machinery using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers to restore optimal operation.
  • Inspect gearboxes and other mechanical components, and perform necessary repairs or replacements to maintain safe and efficient performance.
  • Work on various types of production equipment in a food manufacturing environment, ensuring equipment meets operational and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with a team of maintenance technicians and production staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate equipment status and issues to supervisors and team members.
  • Support both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including responding promptly to breakdowns on the production floor.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout and other safety protocols.
  • Work flexible hours, including extended shifts and frequent weekend work, to support production demands during busy seasons.

Essential

Skills:

  • At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a production environment within the food or beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience repairing and maintaining production equipment.
  • Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Experience working with gearboxes and other mechanical drive components.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools, including wrenches and screwdrivers, for equipment repair and adjustment.
  • Capability to diagnose mechanical problems and implement practical, timely solutions.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent equipment interaction.
  • Willingness and ability to work early morning shifts, extended hours, and frequent weekend shifts as required.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with maintenance colleagues and production staff.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work area.

  • Prior experience working as part of a larger maintenance team in an industrial plant setting.
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices specific to food and beverage production environments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, with a focus on supporting continuous production operations across multiple shifts.

Work Environment:

You will work in a food manufacturing plant alongside a maintenance team of approximately 15 people and more than 200 production workers. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with frequent interaction with industrial equipment and machinery. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the safety dress code. First shift typically starts around 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and usually ends around 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of working longer when needed.
