Job Title

Senior Manager, Oncology & Multispecialty Communications

Location

Dallas or The Woodlands, Texas – Hybrid (hybrid/onsite/remote) position

Position Summary

This role is responsible for internal and external communications for McKesson’s North American Pharmaceutical Services (NAPS) Oncology & Multispecialty businesses. It requires a proven track record of achievement in a highly matrixed organization, strong cross‑functional relationship skills, and experience in leveraging AI‑powered tools to enhance employee experience, accelerate execution, and deliver impactful messaging aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute public relations strategies and plans that support key business priorities and advance the broader Oncology & Multispecialty vision.
  • Supervise external consultants, vendors, and agency resources as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with functions such as marketing, public affairs, legal, and others to shape and optimize plans and execution.
  • Amplify differentiated capabilities and solutions in earned media coverage and across paid, earned, and owned channels, including speaking opportunities, bylines, social media, newsletters and website content.
  • Use AI‑powered drafting and editing tools (Microsoft Copilot) to scale content production without sacrificing quality.
  • Conduct proactive and responsive media relations, manage relationships with key beat reporters, and monitor sentiment, trends, and timely opportunities using AI tools.
  • Protect brand equity and customer loyalty through issues management.
  • Activate a thought‑leadership engine on topics where the organization is uniquely positioned.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of internal forums such as town halls and sales conferences.
  • Manage executive communications for key business leaders.
  • Lead change communications supporting organizational business needs.
  • Use internal channels to strategically connect employees to NAPS key imperatives and goals.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Affairs to strengthen functional capabilities, identify automation opportunities, design AI workflows, and deploy Copilot agents that enhance productivity and scale communications processes.
Expertise & Capabilities
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational communications, media relations, change communications, issues management, and data/milestone communications, with proficiency in AI‑enhanced drafting and content development platforms.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Deep expertise in healthcare media.
  • Strong relationship‑building, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills across competing interests.
  • Executive presence and experience serving as a counselor to senior leaders, preparing briefs, insights and executive messaging efficiently using AI technologies.
  • Outstanding judgment, multitasking ability, and strong prioritization in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑starter mentality with quick learning and adoption of new tools.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to anticipate organizational needs.
  • Ability to manage projects, shifting priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Travel: 30% minimum.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Education:

    4‑year degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    9+ years of internal, executive, and/or external communications or related experience; healthcare communications experience mandatory.
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience for typical education/experience combinations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Compensation

Base pay range: $102,000 – $170,000. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses or long‑term incentive opportunities. Pay is based on performance, experience, skills, equity, and geographic location.
