CHRISTUS Health is a nonprofit health system committed to strengthening communities through compassionate care, meaningful partnerships, and initiatives that expand access to services for individuals and families facing economic and social barriers. Through its Community Impact efforts, CHRISTUS Health works across its Ministries and System Office to address local needs and support community-based solutions. This summer, CHRISTUS Health will place 14 Ameri Corps Community Impact Summer VISTAs in short-term service assignments across the organization, including 11 positions within CHRISTUS Health Ministries located throughout Texas and Louisiana, and 3 positions at the CHRISTUS Health System Office in Dallas.
The program is designed to support Ministry and system-level community impact efforts while providing participants with hands-on service experience in healthcare and nonprofit settings. All Summer VISTA assignments are time-limited, non-duplicative, and do not replace staff roles. No prior Ameri Corps experience is required. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties :
Community Impact Summer VISTAs will support short-term projects across CHRISTUS Health Ministries focused on community outreach, service coordination, and program support. Members will assist with activities such as community outreach, resource mapping, data collection, documentation of community services, and development of tools or materials that strengthen outreach efforts. Summer VISTAs may also participate in limited, appropriate direct service activities, including supporting mobile services, outreach events, community navigation efforts, or data intake, to better understand community needs and inform program improvements.
All activities are time-limited, non-duplicative, and do not replace staff positions. Direct service is intentional and designed solely to enhance outreach, coordination, and program effectiveness while improving access to services for underserved populations.
