Community Health Ameri Corps Vista Member
As a Community Health Ameri Corps VISTA Member at CHRISTUS Health, you will join an incredibly talented team dedicated to supporting and growing the capacity of CHRISTUS Health's Community Health infrastructure resulting in greater alignment to community needs, improvement of community health outcomes, and increased health equity. The Community Health Ameri Corps VISTA Member will mobilize key individuals and organizations to create coalitions committed to improving community health;
develop interventions that address community needs among under-resourced communities; and monitor/evaluate community programs.
This role reports to the Director for Community Health Development at the System Office and their assigned Ministry's Vice President of Mission Integration or the Ministry's Community Health Lead. You will be based at our System Office or in one of our Health Systems across four states:
Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arkansas. VISTAs are highly skilled and participate in capacity-building activities that enhance the mission, strategy, skills, and culture, as well as systems, infrastructure, and human resources of organizations, like CHRISTUS Health, in meeting unmet community needs. Ameri Corps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
This role is offered through the Ameri Corps VISTA program.
Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS
Competencies:
Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. - Maintain a comprehensive database of community resources for the use of referrals by patients, community members, and associates.
- Partner with Community Health Ameri Corps VISTA Members and Leader to engage Associates with local community volunteering opportunities.
- Coordinate the evaluation and improvement of community health resources and programs.
- Develop new partnerships and strengthen existing partnerships by connecting with local community organizations.
- Contribute to developing best practices, training materials, and sustainability plans for the Ameri Corps VISTA program at CHRISTUS Health.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be dedicated to participating in a one-year, full-time national service assignment.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals, organizations, advocates, and community partners.
