Provide students with health services, incorporate them into health education programs, and teach preventive health practices.
Responsibilities- Provide care to students (routine, urgent, emergent, palliative, etc.)
- Comply with all regulations and guidelines set by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON)
- Comply with local health authorities and DSHS standards
- Provide routine, urgent, and emergent care to students and staff according to Uplift Education’s guidelines and the Texas BON standards
- Provide basic health information within Uplift Education’s guidelines and as prescribed by the Texas BON to students and staff
- Assist with enrollment, attend ARDs and 504 meetings; develop and implement Individual Health Plans (IHPs) as necessary according to the health needs and conditions of students
- Collaborate with all departments across the network to ensure a safe environment for all students and staff
- Conduct health screening for students as required by the Texas Department of Health, Education Agency, and charter policy; make referrals as necessary
- Plan and implement an ongoing evaluation of Health Services programs and make adaptations based on results
- Instruct students and staff in safety, health, and wellness
- Conduct campus-level health trainings
- Administer vaccines according to the TVFC Program guidelines
- Work collaboratively with school staff, physicians, parents, and community
- Serve on the Crisis Intervention and Emergency Management Teams for the school
- Ensure compliance with all immunization records in compliance with state guidelines
- Abide by policies established by federal and state laws that apply to charter schools, Texas Department of Health rules, and Commission rules
- Delegate in accordance with the Texas BON
- Exercise professional judgment in making decisions
- Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
- Experience Requirements: 1+ years of nursing experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse
- Special Skills/
Certifications:
Valid Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas (preferred) and LVN license required - Vision, hearing, spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans certification preferred
- American Heart Association BLS certification required; BLS instructor preferred
