A 99-bed acute care facility in Irving, Texas is seeking a Nurse Manager of Med-Surg to lead departmental operations. The hospital holds several distinguished designations, including a Level III Trauma Center (American College of Surgeons), a Certified Primary Stroke Center (The Joint Commission), a Certified Total Hip and Knee Replacement program (The Joint Commission), Accreditation for Bariatric Surgery (MBSAQIP), a Level II Maternal Care Center (Texas Health and Human Services), and a Level II NICU program (Texas Health and Human Services).
This is a full-time, on-site role with a daytime schedule and no weekend requirements.
The Nurse Manager of Med-Surg provides around-the-clock leadership for all departmental functions, ensuring operations stay aligned with business trends while maintaining a strong focus on people, service delivery, and financial stewardship. Day-to-day responsibilities include payroll oversight, hiring, scheduling, staff orientation, competency validation for new and existing team members, and conducting annual performance evaluations. The manager builds effective working relationships across a broad range of constituencies, including patients, families, physicians, peers, and interdepartmental partners, to drive organizational progress.
Counseling, mentoring, and coaching of staff are integral components of this role.
- Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for all med-surg departmental functions
- Align unit operations with organizational business trends and strategic goals
- Oversee payroll, hiring, scheduling, and staff orientation processes
- Validate competencies for new and existing team members on an ongoing basis
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and support ongoing staff development
- Develop effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, peers, and interdepartmental partners
- Counsel, mentor, and coach staff to foster professional growth and team engagement
- Maintain focus on service delivery excellence and sound financial stewardship
- Drive organizational progress through collaboration across departments and disciplines
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
- Texas State RN license or RN Compact license acceptable under eNLC guidelines required
- Previous recent Department Director or Manager experience required; strong Charge Nurse Coordinators looking to step into a Manager role will also be considered
- Minimum of two years of recent acute care Med-Surg experience required
- Full-time, day shift, no weekends
- $15,000 sign-on bonus
