The QA/QC Superintendent is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Quality Assurance and Quality Control program across assigned electrical construction projects. This role ensures all installation activities comply with contract documents, applicable codes, company standards, and client quality requirements. The QA/QC Superintendent works closely with Project Management, Field Supervision, Commissioning Teams, and Clients to ensure installations are completed correctly the first time and fully documented to support successful commissioning and turnover.
This is a safety sensitive position.
- Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans in alignment with contract requirements, company standards, and client specifications.
- Establish inspection and test plans (ITPs), checklists, and quality procedures for all electrical installation activities.
- Participate in preconstruction, pre-installation, and preparatory meetings to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined and understood.
- Ensure alignment of QA/QC processes with commissioning and turnover requirements.
- Perform daily field inspections of electrical installations, including but not limited to:
- Underground and above-ground raceway installation
- Cable tray and supports
- Medium and low voltage cable installation and terminations
- Switchgear, UPS, PDUs, and distribution equipment
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Equipment setting and alignment
- Verify installations comply with:
- Contract drawings and specifications
- NEC, NFPA, and applicable codes
- Manufacturer installation requirements
- Client standards and project quality plans
- Maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including:
- Inspection reports
- Test results
- Deficiency tracking logs
- Redline drawings
- Turnover packages and system completion documentation
- Coordinate with commissioning teams to support system walkdowns, energization, and turnover.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly organized for client turnover.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies and non-conforming work.
- Collaborate with field supervision and project management to ensure timely corrective action.
- Verify corrective work is completed in compliance with quality standards.
- Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and Engineers to maintain quality standards.
- Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors, clients, inspectors, and commissioning agents.
- Provide quality-related guidance and training to field personnel.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership across the project team.
- Support development and improvement of company-wide QA/QC standards and procedures.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements.
- Assist in developing best practices related to installation quality and turnover efficiency.
- Perform other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
- Must possess a valid Journeyman Electrician License issued by a recognized state or jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of electrical construction experience, preferably in mission critical, data center, semiconductor, industrial, or large commercial projects.
- 3+ years in a QA/QC, Superintendent, or Field Leadership role.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, grounding, switch gear, and controls.
- Experience with commissioning and turnover processes.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- NEC and applicable electrical codes
- Electrical installation methods and best practices
- Inspection and testing procedures
- Construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Commissioning and system turnover processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
- Ability to work effectively with field teams, clients, and management
May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switch gear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces;
works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
- Lift 51 pounds, routinely. Constantly move about on the feet.
