Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Lead serves as a quality control specialist within BP Aero Engine Services, supporting shop quality for engines in process and upon receipt. This role conducts audits throughout the repair lifecycle, assists in ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, Repair Station Manuals, and customer requirements, and provides technical guidance to production teams to maintain workmanship standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs daily checks of all work packages to ensure paperwork accuracy and proper progression
  • Conducts quality audits of work packs, production processes, logistics, parts, quarantine, and scrap areas
  • Works with Team Leads to ensure compliance with Service Bulletins (SBs) and Airworthiness Directives (ADs)
  • Ensures all tools are properly calibrated and maintained in accordance with established calibration requirements
  • Performs periodic toolbox inspections to confirm tools are properly shadowed, etched, and stored in designated locations
  • Assists in modifying or creating routers to support accurate work sign‑offs
  • Develops and improves quality documentation to enhance tracking of workmanship and compliance
  • Partners with the Director of Quality to support departmental quality assurance initiatives
  • Tracks recurring issues identified during quality audits to drive corrective actions and technician coaching
  • Supports technician training needs to ensure timely qualification on assigned work scopes
  • Maintains on‑the‑job training (OJT) logs and keeps the technician training matrix current
  • Participates in “Work Order Induction” meetings with production teams and team leads to review required scope of work
  • Participates in Gate 1 meetings to ensure all required work is addressed and properly documented
  • Identifies opportunities to improve quality flow, streamline processes, and reduce the risk of quality escapes
  • Conducts oral and practical evaluations for Tech 2 promotions
  • Maintains working knowledge of all BPAES Repair Station Manuals
  • Maintains working knowledge of customer quality requirements (e.g., OPSM and others)
  • Reviews Red Tags for parts requiring repair

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Authorized to legally work in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and understand English to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance
  • Willingness and ability to work an assigned schedule, including weekends as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
  • Willingness and ability to cross‑train and develop additional technical competencies
  • Valid FAA Powerplant License required
  • Experience working within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment
  • Thorough understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
