The position is affiliated with the Chaire ENS-MACIF "Changement climatique, Nouvelles fractures, nouvelles mutualisations", hosted by the departments of Social Sciences (CMH) and Geosciences (LMD) of the École normale supérieure – PSL, in partnership with the Fondation ENS and the MACIF.

The Chaire conducts interdisciplinary research to better understand the impacts of climate change on territories and societies, including climatic hazards (droughts, floods), transformations in the use of natural resources, and social and economic responses to environmental vulnerabilities.

It combines academic research, participation in public debate, and arts-science initiatives to foster dialogue between researchers, institutional actors, professionals, artists, and citizens.

The research engineer will work closely with researchers from the Chaire and the associated departments, as well as with academic and territorial partners.

The main mission is to contribute to the development of the scientific activities of the Chaire ENS-MACIF by conducting interdisciplinary research at the interface between geosciences and social and human sciences on socio-environmental vulnerabilities related to climate change.

The research engineer will participate in the conception, realization, and valorization of research projects using qualitative and quantitative approaches, as well as in the organization of scientific activities and dissemination of the Chaire. The research engineer will also contribute to the valorization of research carried out by the Chaire, by participating in the organization of scientific events, public debates, and initiatives bringing together researchers, artists, socio-economic actors, and citizens.

Activities include:

• Designing and conducting field surveys (interviews, observations, questionnaires) with institutional, economic actors, and populations affected by climate risks.
• Collecting, processing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data related to social and environmental vulnerabilities.
• Participating in the development of interdisciplinary research linking social sciences and geosciences.
• Contributing to the writing of scientific publications, reports, and synthesis notes.
• Participating in the organization of conferences, seminars, participatory workshops, and scientific mediation events.
• Contributing to arts-science initiatives developed within the Chaire.
• Participating in the dissemination of results to academic, institutional partners, and the general public.

Qualifications and skills expected:

Degree:
Master 2 in sociology.

Professional experience:
First experience in research, particularly in conducting field surveys, is desirable.
