This position works out of our Irving, TX location in the Abbott Core Lab Division. This role is on site daily with up to 10% travel.

Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

As a Scientist, you will lead smaller research projects and contribute to larger cross-functional initiatives that support product development and innovation. You'll use your scientific expertise to design and execute experiments, analyze results, solve technical challenges, and help drive projects forward. We're seeking a motivated scientist who can work independently, solve technical challenges, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and communicate scientific findings clearly.

The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities, driving project execution, and contributing to innovative research and product development efforts. This role is mainly in the office and 20% in the laboratory.

Key responsibilities include:

• Independently plan and conduct laboratory experiments, analyze data, interpret findings, and recommend next steps.
• Apply scientific literature, technical expertise, and industry knowledge to identify solutions and improve products, processes, and research approaches.
• Identify potential technical risks, troubleshoot issues, and recommend practical solutions based on sound scientific reasoning.
• Use analytical instruments and laboratory techniques to support research, testing, and product development activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project planning, timelines, resource needs, and process improvements.
• Contribute to the development and execution of project plans, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved on schedule.
• Present scientific findings, project updates, and technical recommendations to management and project teams.
• Support innovation efforts through contributions to invention disclosures, patent applications, and scientific publications when applicable.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of experimental methods, results, and conclusions in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and actively support a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with Abbott's Quality System and applicable regulatory standards.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior scientists and team members as needed, while serving as a scientific resource within the organization.
