The RoleAccount Managers are responsible for business development, new account acquisition, achieving sales targets, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction within an assigned territory. Important activities include anticipating customer needs by proactively gauging customer requirements, responding to customer requests, preparing proposals, and developing solutions from available offerings.
Key Responsibilities- Sales Execution:
Identify customer needs and sell the appropriate hardware and company services; develop business through multiple techniques including cold calling, in-person meetings, and partnering with vendors or manufacturers; understand customers’ business models, buying cycles, and establish strong relationships to drive sales and repeat business. - Meet or exceed annual sales top-line revenue and margin goals as defined by management; drive profitable revenue growth for target accounts in partnership with inside sales.
- Adhere to sales processes including pipeline development and accurate forecasting via internal tools; perform extensive proposal writing and prepare sales information for customers.
- Account Management:
Manage individual sales objectives including sales orders and billing activities to support quarterly goals; maintain ongoing customer relationships and update account information in company systems; resolve customer satisfaction issues. - Coordinate with inside sales to ensure quotes are provided and order requests are processed accurately; collaborate with engineering to scope projects; manage past-due invoice resolution with accounting to ensure collections.
- Develop and maintain solid business relationships with decision-makers and influencers at target accounts; understand each target customer’s business model and identify technology needs.
- Strategic Planning & Presentation:
Perform analysis of account bases, develop and execute marketing and business plans to drive revenue and profits; provide feedback to sales leadership, develop vendor relationships, and mentor new employees; attend account planning sessions with strategic manufacturing partners’ AMs; present quarterly business outlooks focusing on performance, pipeline, and improvement goals. - Provide in-depth customer technology roadmaps and work with inside Account Manager to uncover new opportunities; develop partnerships with Vendor Field Sales Representatives to optimize joint selling; use monthly forecasting and pipeline management to drive growth.
- Demonstrate ability to overcome obstacles, achieve sales goals, and articulate ideas clearly; show a proven track record in developing relationships with customers and vendors and translating client needs into solutions.
- Preferred candidate will have prior experience selling advanced technology solutions from Cisco, EMC, Nimble, Aruba, Palo Alto, IBM, HP, Citrix, Microsoft, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience and/or military experience.
- 2 or more years of outside information technology SLED sales experience (customer-facing) with state and local government and higher education. Experience with infrastructure, storage, network security, professional services or managed services preferred; cloud experience strongly preferred.
