IC Analyst-Irving, TX

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a detail-oriented IC Analyst for a contract opportunity in Irving, TX. This role is ideal for an analytical laboratory professional with hands-on Ion Chromatography (IC) experience and a strong background in laboratory testing. The IC Analyst will be responsible for sample preparation, analysis, data review, reporting, equipment maintenance, and quality documentation.

Position Overview The IC Analyst will perform copper and silver testing of water samples using Ion Chromatography (IC) instrumentation. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate and reliable laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all stages of sample analysis, including sample receipt and login, preparation, digestion, sequencing, IC analysis, data review, interpretation, and reporting of results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Ion Chromatography (IC) instrumentation and associated laboratory equipment.
  • Accurately enter, review, and maintain analytical data within LIMS and other laboratory databases.
  • Ensure analytical results meet established quality control requirements and laboratory performance standards.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain instrument logbooks, calibration records, maintenance documentation, and laboratory notebooks in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Perform and document equipment calibrations according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating SOPs, work instructions, and laboratory documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels of laboratory reagents, standards, consumables, and supplies and coordinate ordering as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support method validation, quality control investigations, and corrective action processes as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting analytical procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, supervisors, and other departments to ensure timely completion of analytical testing.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and laboratory experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining Ion Chromatography (IC) instrumentation required.
  • Experience performing metals analysis in environmental, water, mining, metallurgical, or industrial laboratories preferred.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience through professional employment, internships, or academic laboratory coursework.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory testing practices.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality results.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining individual accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, ISO standards, and quality assurance programs.
  • Experience performing instrument calibrations, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of environmental water testing methodologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Background in metals analysis, mining, metallurgy, or environmental laboratories.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and laboratory best practices.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Laboratory-based position requiring standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of laboratory instruments, computers, and analytical equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move laboratory supplies and consumables as needed.
  • Exposure to laboratory chemicals and reagents in a controlled environment.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with laboratory safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely handle samples, chemicals, and laboratory materials while following established safety protocols.
