Position: Hydraulic Shop Service Technician 2

Job Summary

This Hydraulic Shop Service Technician 2 position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy construction equipment and/or related components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works independently or as a member of a team to provide hydraulic repairs to the equipment and its components that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals. Our address is 2000 East Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062.

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Entry‑level position – Generally has two or more years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under moderate supervision.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Mentors and helps train other technicians
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipment
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • The ability to read, write, and understand information
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
Education and Experience
  • At least two years of diesel‑powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
  • Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
