Job Description
- Install, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial potable water, sanitary, storm, and natural gas systems and fixtures per Texas codes and City of Irving requirements.
- Diagnose leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and equipment failures; present code-compliant repair options and accurate estimates to customers.
- Read and interpret plans, isometric drawings, and specifications; lay out pipe routes, sleeves, and penetrations; complete rough-in and finish work.
- Join and assemble piping via solder / braze, solvent welding, press / crimp, and threading; set, connect, and test water heaters (tank / tankless), faucets, toilets, disposers, and pumps.
- Conduct pressure tests, purge and disinfect potable systems, and prepare for inspections; document work orders, photos, and material lists using mobile apps.
- Coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, and other trades; pull permits and schedule inspections with the City of Irving when required.
- Maintain a safe, organized jobsite; follow OSHA and company safety procedures for ladders, trenching, confined spaces, and lockout / tagout; maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory.
- Respond to scheduled service calls and emergency after-hours needs; participate in an on-call rotation; travel to jobs throughout Irving and the greater DFW area.
- Schedule and pay : full-time, typically Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 a.m.–4 : 00 p.m., with overtime as needed; competitive hourly pay, overtime eligible; benefits available.
- Active Texas Journeyman Plumber License issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners;
Texas Master Plumber license a plus; valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable MVR. - 3+ years of hands-on installation and service experience in residential and / or light commercial plumbing, including rough-in and trim.
- Proficient with copper soldering / brazing, PVC / CPVC solvent welding, PEX press / crimp, steel pipe threading, and fixture setting; able to use pipe benders, threaders, and inspection cameras.
- Working knowledge of IPC / UPC, Texas state amendments, and City of Irving permitting / inspection processes; ability to read blueprints and isometric drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for leaks, blockages, low pressure, water quality, backflow, and water heater issues (tank and tankless).
- Comfortable using smartphones / tablets for dispatch, documentation, and parts lookup; clear written and verbal communication with customers and team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, and trenches in varying Texas weather; use required PPE.
- Willingness to participate in rotating on-call schedule, overtime, and occasional weekend or evening work; reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Preferred certifications :
Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester, Med Gas Brazing (NITC) or equivalent, OSHA 10-hour; ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen as permitted by law.
