A Light Duty Technician III is a master of all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle system with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. The Technician III will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.
** DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Examine vehicles to determine extent of cause of failure or malfunction(s)
* Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.
* Diagnose, repair or replace air, hydraulic, electric, drum brake parts and accessories.
* Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
* Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil springs, shocks, air bags, etc.
* Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
* Repair exhaust systems.
* Diagnose and repair air conditioning malfunctions.
* Diagnose drivetrain issues.
* Remove and replace u-joints, carrier bearings, transmissions, clutches, and rear differentials.
* Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
* Perform vehicle alignments per manufacture’s specifications. (May not apply to all locations.)
* Front axle work including kingpins, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, radius arms, etc.
* Perform basic wire welding, aluminum is a plus.
* Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the work to be completed in a timely manner.
* Remove interior accessories including, but not limited to, dash assemblies, upfitter equipment, windows, seats in order to complete necessary repairs.
* Be willing to train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs as delegated by your manager.
* Complete final review of repairs requested by customer to ensure everything was done properly.
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
** EDUCATION & TRAINING
*** Any automotive schooling is a plus.
* Knowledge of Ford software preferred.
* Knowledge of Snap On software
* 7+ years of experience
** KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
*** Automotive diagnostic/mechanic experience
* Training Experience
** SKILLS & ABILITIES
*** Ability to train technicians.
* Ability to communicate with customers in a professional manner.
* Ability to lift 50lbs.
** WORKING CONDITIONS
*** Non-climate controlled shop
