General Summary
The role is responsible for safely smoothing, leveling, and finishing concrete surfaces to meet specified quality and texture standards using hand and/or power tools. The position includes on‑job training and may involve working shifts of day, swing and night and exposure to outdoor elements.
Responsibilities- Pour, spread, tamp, level, shape, smooth and finish concrete to meet horizontal tolerances and finish specifications ranging from hard trowel to heavy broom.
- Operate various machinery and equipment such as cement edging, troweling, and finishing equipment, bull float, broom, and trowel machines.
- Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge.
- Patch horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces.
- Construct and assemble concrete forms and wooden frame structures for various concrete formations.
- Assist with subgrade work, mixing of concrete or other aggregate mixtures, and break up and repair old concrete surfaces as required.
- Wear a full body harness and work at heights while tied off.
- Work day, swing and night shifts (occasionally extended hours) and tolerate constant exposure to outside elements in all weather conditions.
- Operate in safety‑sensitive construction settings with moving machinery and heavy equipment.
- Collaborate with a team in a fast‑paced complex environment and navigate confined spaces or awkward positions.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of concrete finishing experience (preferred).
- Certification in concrete curb machine operation (preferred).
- Previous related construction industry experience (preferred).
- Ability to perform manual physical tasks, including climbing, balancing, squatting, crawling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
