Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Duties include performing specialized and highly skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair and servicing of water and wastewater distribution system facilities and equipment; overseeing and maintaining operation of pumps, motors and related electrical equipment and valves throughout the water distribution and wastewater collection systems; troubleshooting electrical and communications problems for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA); and coordinating activities with other departments, divisions, outside agencies and contractors.
Duties may require entering confined spaces, climbing above ground and elevated storage tanks, working with low and medium voltage electrical equipment, and typically will require lifting up to 100 pounds frequently.
A high school diploma or GED, plus some college or specialized training in a related field, and two years experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, including work on electrical motors, control systems, pumps and low voltage electrical circuitry required. Must have a valid Texas Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL); currently possess TCEQ-issued Class C Water and Collection II Wastewater licenses;
and have the ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and pump curves. Must participate in the on-call rotation and be able to respond to trouble calls after hours, including evenings, nights and weekends as needed.
