position summary
the director of engineering diagnoses, provides service and repairs to equipment including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, hvac refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating. Additionally, they respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum satisfaction while complying with all century golf guidelines and policies. The ideal candidate will perform troubleshooting and diagnose problems on building systems.
(general knowledge of all building systems is necessary.) this will also include work order requests, planned work tasks, and other assigned projects related to general facilities maintenance. Keep general manager apprised of status of all work completed, in process or planned in a timely manner. Perform or, if necessary, contact service providers to repair or replace building equipment or systems and develop resolutions to correct noted deficiencies in the timeliest, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Be able to work at least one weekend per month and be on-call on a rotation basis.
experience, education and skills required
- 3 years' experience in facility or property maintenance to include painting, plumbing, fabrication and minor electrical repairs.
- must have supervisory experience
- proven work experience as an engineering manager or similar role
- analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
- communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
- detail-oriented with the ability to catch minor errors which can result in major problems
- must be able to clearly understand and communicate verbally in english and in writing with team.
- must be able to work a flexible schedule and/or over time if needed.
- must be able to arrive on time for work schedule.
- must work well with others and support team members.
- must work quickly without compromising quality.
- can work independent and move about departments.
- fluent in english, reading and writing
- secondary education or equivalent experience
- experience required by position is from 2 to 3 years of employment in the related position
- requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance
- working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job or through a series of professional certifications
- requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment
- diagnose and perform all repairs of equipment including motors, starters, breakers, chillers doas units and associated equipment throughout the entire building
- perform a variety of building maintenance duties including painting and wallpapering, window installation and repair, floor treatment and repair, door hanging and repairing, and exterior wall surfaces
- perform a variety of carpentry duties as assigned including repairing walls, doors and trim; furniture repairs, lockers, gate locks and fences
- replace burned out and defective fluorescent tubes and light bulbs; replace burned out ballasts, broken light switches, duplex receptacles, plates, and other plug receptacles
- repair bathroom plumbing; replace or repair leaking faucets and damaged vanity sinks; unclog toilets, shower and sink drains
- maintain heating and refrigeration units, replace filters and clean vents; repair coolers
- clean all stations in engineering, grease traps, plumbing stoppages and maintain an organized department
- maintenance and separation of refuse and trash chute and corresponding areas
- implement and handle preventative maintenance of all equipment and update appropriate logs
- respond to calls regarding maintenance of equipment in common areas in a timely manner
- respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
- install or relocate any additional equipment or existing equipment when necessary
- assist with energy conservation and waste management programs in the hotel
- install electrical and mechanical systems for renovations, outlet additions and associated equipment and provide electrical set ups for exhibits including maintenance of those set-ups
- use systems and devices provided for the sole use of work purposes to track and communicate work orders/owner requests
- work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
- required to bend, stoop, walk and stand up to 8 hours a day.
- must be able to lift or push up to 50 lbs.
- must be able to work in a fast-paced busy environment.
