The Apprentice Electrical Power Technician will perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a Technician. Responsibilities include participating in a variety of focused developmental activities, assignments, and rotations over 12-18 months to prepare for a professional role  the event the Apprentice Electrical Power Technician fails to perform, or no position is available after completion of the program, he or she will be separated from the company.

Must be able to travel overnight and rotate on-call, to include weekends and holidays, and during inclement weather. Licensed electrical apprentice or journeyman are preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Learns and assists with the maintenance and repair of electrical components for generators, switch gear, and breakers
  • Gains knowledge of and assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
  • Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning
  • Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
  • Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned
  • Maintains safety training and procedures
  • Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Licensed electrical apprentice or journeyman are preferred
  • Knowledge of building control panels
  • Knowledge of working with 3 phase electricity
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
  • Knowledge of basic to moderate industrial electrical safety practices
  • Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information i.e. blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams
  • Ability to follow directions and guidelines
  • Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
  • Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Up to one year of relevant experience preferred
  • Electrical experience is preferred
  • Industrial Generator experience preferred
  • Licensed electrical apprentice or journeyman are preferred

  • None
Travel
  • Up to 30% of travel is expected for this position
  • Valid Driver’s license required
Physical Requirements
  • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
  • Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
  • Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment
  • Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks
  • Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole body vibration
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
  • May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
