Vertiv HVAC Service Technician (Data Center)

We are seeking experienced HVAC field technicians with the ability to travel to customer sites to start up, commission, troubleshoot and repair the equipment we represent. This full‑time opportunity requires independent work, strong diagnostic skills, customer service orientation, and coordination with project managers, field supervisors, service coordinators, and customers. The role supports our equipment sales to data centers.
Fundamental Functions & Responsibilities- Manage projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision.
- Coach and review work of lower-level professionals.
- Provide solutions to complex problems.
- Start‑up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent.
- Perform factory start‑up, commissioning, warranty service on data center equipment and systems.
- Inspect equipment to ensure peak performance.
- Interpret engineering drawings for layout, location, and operation of systems.
- Represent the company positively to contractors and owners.
- Suggest additional services beneficial to customers.
- Collaborate in a team‑based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Submit required paperwork to Service Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Work safely daily and ensure all safety measures are taken.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, airflow, and theory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Clear description of problems and solutions.
- Technical skills to explain product functionality to customers.
- Planning, organization, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Clear, timely, concise documentation and problem‑solving skills.
- Substantial travel within operational region.
- Flexible schedule may be required.
- Work in adverse conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Vertiv trained or certified.
- Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 training plus 5+ years’ experience as a service technician in a commercial environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld computer proficiency.
- Electrical knowledge required; EPA certification preferred (e.g., HVAC journeyman, master license).
- Ability to work in diverse conditions including mechanical rooms with noise, extreme weather, electrical shock risk, climbing, etc.
- Physical ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, lift up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple duties.
- Language: read and comprehend instructions; write and present information effectively.
- Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, graph interpretation.
- Reasoning: apply common sense, problem solving, and prioritization of tasks.
Field work at multiple customer sites daily.
Physical DemandsRegular use of hands to operate computer keyboard; frequent standing, walking, sitting; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 75 pounds; specific vision requirements.
