Description

Holt CAT in Irving, Texas is looking for an experienced heavy construction equipment Shop Service Technician 4 for our day shift position. This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy construction equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.

Mid-level position – Generally has more than seven years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Level IV Technician has a broad knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is self-starting and requires minimal supervision; is often a team member on a large project.

Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains construction equipment and components
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Provides a significant amount of task and behavior-oriented mentoring, and training to others
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of after treatment repairs, troubleshooting and diagnosing
  • Knowledge of major repairs on engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and overhaul complete machines.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems CAT ET & CAT SIS
