Field Service Technician

The Technician is required to provide face‑to‑face customer service at an off‑site location, diagnosing, repairing and reconditioning various light and heavy construction equipment while adhering to safety and company policies.

• Perform complex repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, conduct failure analysis, remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components to CAT specifications.
• Test, make adjustments, and verify proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Prepare and complete all job‑related documents, write service reports, order parts, and maintain clear customer records; access databases required to complete the job.
• Act as a team leader and mentor/coaches.
• Participate in the quotation of work orders.
• Operate equipment and vehicles, maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
• Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Maintain all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in a good, clean, and working order.
• Communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
• Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat‑rate time and re‑work standards.
• Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
• Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
• Project professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance.
• May be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians.

• 3 years of shop experience with heavy equipment and 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and rebuilding diesel and natural gas engines.
• Valid driver’s license; valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and acceptable driving record; certifications/licenses required to operate crane and forklift.
• 25% domestic travel required; various worksites.
• Apply advanced knowledge of equipment and tools, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
• Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; operating and controlling equipment or systems.
• Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Operate a crane and forklift.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
