Position SummaryAs a Technology Technician, you will work under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent. Your main responsibilities will be providing skilled maintenance, installations, additions, and/or repair and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, associated materials and equipment on any type of project. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lay out work and preps materials for installation.
- Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in.
- Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6.
- Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.
- Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields and associated components.
- Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.
- Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and resolve problems in structured cabling systems.
- Operate any power and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
- Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
- Minimum 3 years of experience of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level.
- High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
- Must have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.
- Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
- Must be able to pass drug and background check.
May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switch gear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces;
works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
