and monitoring compliance with court orders through home, school, and family contacts. Duties also include administering the Court's Youth Diversion Program in compliance with the Texas Youth Diversion and Early Intervention Act (H.B. 3186), providing eligible juveniles accused of fine-only misdemeanor offenses the opportunity to participate in diversion services prior to formal court proceedings. Additional responsibilities include Teen Court functions such as enrolling defendants, recruiting and supervising volunteers, maintaining docket scheduling and case dispositions, and establishing community service partnerships.
The position also maintains case files and databases, prepares statistical and specialized reports, and handles highly confidential information with discretion. A Bachelor's degree with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or Social Work and two years of court system experience or equivalent is required; experience with juvenile court programs or social services preferred. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is highly beneficial.
Clerical and typing tests may be required. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
PAY GRADE GG17 / FULL PAY RANGE $25.45 - $35.88 PER HOUR
