Senior Software Engineer – Product Support Commercial System (PSCS)

• Drive new feature development and maintenance of a new complex Global Warranty Management solution.
• Perform programming, project management, and development assignments following Agile methodology with minimal supervision.
• Identify and resolve complex application and infrastructure problems, including off‑shift and weekend support calls.
• Lead development of application features that deliver valuable business outcomes.
• Mentor software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction.
• Establish high standards of software quality through good practices, code reviews, and testing.
• Design, test, and refine prompts and system instructions for large language models (LLMs) to support warranty workflows, decision support, reporting, and user assistance.
• Communicate with end users and internal customers to guide development, debugging, and testing for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
• Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components requiring careful planning and execution.
• Perform other duties assigned by Caterpillar management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5–7 years of hands‑on application development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of software development tools and activities, including code review and tool selection.
• Ability to design, configure, test, and integrate software products in line with requirements.
• Experience in functional, performance, and load testing with documentation.
• Strong communication skills and decision‑making ability.

• Leadership on medium to large‑scale projects impacting strategic priorities.
• Experience deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions.
• Collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, backend engineers, and designers.
• Agile framework experience (ideally Scrum).
• Deployment and maintenance experience with AWS public clouds.
• Crafting clear prompts or specifications for AI tools.
• Knowledge of data structures, schemas, and metadata.
• Collaborative mindset in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments.
• Understanding of Caterpillar approved authentication and authorization protocols.
• Secure and scalable application development using Java 21+ and Spring Boot.
• Front‑end development in JavaScript ES6+, Type Script, HTML, CSS, JSX.
• Experience with front‑end frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Experience with AWS components (ECS, Lambda, SNS, Kinesis, RDS, Dynamo
  
  DB).
• Proven ability to connect React or Angular front ends to Java back‑ends via RESTful APIs.

Location:

Peoria, IL and Irving, TX.

Travel:
May require up to 20% travel.
