Simulation & Digital Twin Engineer

Our Simulation & Digital Twin Engineer will design, develop, and integrate simulation and visualization capabilities that support Caterpillar’s next‑generation digital twin, machine behavior modeling, and interactive 3D experiences. This role combines simulation engineering, real‑time visualization, and 3D scene‑building using NVIDIA Omniverse and modern C++/Python tool chains.

• Develop simulation logic and behavioral models governing machine and system behavior.
• Create high‑fidelity 3D models, scenes, and environments using NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, and Omniverse Kit–based pipelines.
• Design and execute model validation and verification plans to ensure digital twins are accurate and numerically stable.
• Integrate simulation components with current Caterpillar models, data systems, and digital twin frameworks.
• Contribute to toolchain and pipeline design, including scripting utilities, automated test frameworks, and modular code libraries.
• Work hands‑on with multiple digital‑twin platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse, CARLA, Siemens NX/Teamcenter/Plant Simulation, Dassault3
  
  DEXPERIENCE, Ansys Twin Builder, Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Integrate data, models, or external simulation engines into unified digital‑twin experiences.
• Assist in evaluating emerging tools and frameworks to expand Caterpillar’s simulation and digital‑twin capabilities.
• Provide software integration and interface design for alternative platforms and software packages.
• Apply structured software development life‑cycle methodologies to deliver new or enhanced software products.

• Strong expertise in simulation development, behavioral modeling, and real‑time 3D visualization.
• Proficiency with NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, Omniverse Kit, and modern C++/Python tool chains.
• Experience with digital‑twin platforms (CARLA, Siemens NX, Ansys Twin Builder, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.).
• Knowledge of software integration processes, interface design, and automated test frameworks.
• Experience in software development life‑cycle and structured delivery methodologies.
• Effective communication skills: ability to present complex technical concepts in simple language, summarize, and explain to diverse audiences.
• Strong self‑management and prioritization skills to handle multiple concurrent objectives and projects.
• Strategic thinking and ability to maintain focus on key success factors.
• Influencing skills to deepen expertise and impact decisions within the organization.

Full‑time position based in Dallas/Irving, TX (alternatives: SF or Peoria). Domestic relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are available.
