Job Title:
Senior Backend Engineer Service Now Platform (Windows Event Processing)
Location:
100% Remote (PST/ CST Time Zone)
Duration: 3-6 Month Contract
Job Responsibilities:
Senior backend engineer to design and build event ingestion and processing systems for Windows-based client and server environments, implemented as custom, production-grade solutions on the Service Now platform.
This is a product engineering role, not Service Now administration or IT operations. The engineer will write real code, design systems, and own solutions end-to-end.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend systems that ingest, process, and analyze events from Windows client/server applications.
- Build and maintain custom Service Now platform solutions (scripting, integrations, platform services).
- Translate product requirements into scalable, well-architected technical designs.
- Own quality through automated testing, code/design reviews, CI/CD, and production readiness.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex issues spanning Windows environments, backend services, and Service Now.
- Build lightweight UI components where needed to support backend functionality.
- Apply AI assisted tools pragmatically in engineering or data workflows.
- 6+ years professional software engineering experience.
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals: system design, data structures, testing, CI/CD.
- Hands on Service Now custom development experience (beyond admin/config).
- Experience with event-driven or telemetry-based systems.
- Working knowledge of Windows environments, including how applications emit and consume system events.
- Proven ability to debug distributed systems end-to-end.
- Comfortable operating in a high bar, product engineering environment.
- Experience with C++ and/or C# in production systems.
- Background in monitoring, discovery, observability, or event pipelines.
- UI development experience (Service Now UI Builder, modern web UI).
- Prior exposure to AI assisted engineering or data analysis workflows.
