About the RoleAs a Senior Software Development Manager at Wellfit, you will provide operational and people leadership across the software development organization. This role is responsible for driving engineering execution, contractor oversight, resource planning, delivery readiness, and team effectiveness while partnering closely with Product, Architecture, QA, Dev Ops, and Support. The position will work closely with the Director of Development to ensure engineering teams are appropriately staffed, work is effectively prioritized, resources are fully utilized, and delivery commitments are achieved.
The role owns people leadership, engineering operations, contractor governance, resource planning, and delivery execution. Technical direction, architecture decisions, and design authority remain with Architecture and the Principal/Senior Engineers.
- Oversee contractor resources, vendor relationships, contractor quality, utilization, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
- Manage engineering capacity, workload balancing, and resource allocation across development teams.
- Lead, coach, and develop software engineers across multiple product teams.
- Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, provide performance feedback, and support employee growth and development.
- Monitor team utilization and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and delivery effectiveness.
- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, QA, Dev Ops, Support, and Scrum Masters to ensure work is groomed, prioritized, and ready for development.
- Monitor delivery progress, identify risks and dependencies, and proactively address potential issues before they impact commitments.
- Support release readiness activities and ensure development teams are aligned with delivery objectives.
- Establish and monitor engineering metrics aligned with delivery velocity, utilization, throughput, quality, and team adoption.
- Collaborate with technical leadership to improve development processes, team effectiveness, and engineering best practices.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding engineering talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- 4+ years of experience leading software development teams and engineering organizations.
- Experience managing multiple engineering teams, distributed teams, contractors, and vendor relationships.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and delivery practices.
- Experience with resource planning, capacity management, utilization reporting, and release planning.
- Experience managing contractor and vendor relationships.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles, engineering processes, and team delivery metrics.
- Experience working closely with Product Management, Architecture, QA, Dev Ops, and Support organizations.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Salary: $160,000 – $170,000 a year. Alongside a competitive annual bonus, we offer a 401(k) with up to a 4% match, generous paid time off, and comprehensive healthcare benefits.
