Overview
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering at Caterpillar leads engineering teams responsible for simulation integration, physical AI platform integration, digital twin systems, geospatial/safety services, and customer‑facing simulation and visualization workflows. The role drives delivery, scales engineering execution, and establishes standards across multiple platform areas.
Key Responsibilities- Lead multiple engineering teams delivering simulation result services, platform integration services, geospatial/safety services, and digital twin integration capabilities.
- Define and execute the vision for scalable and secure platform services and APIs that promote reuse, reduce duplication, and improve developer productivity.
- Collaborate closely with product, architecture, security, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with long‑term enterprise strategy and evolving customer needs.
- Drive the design and development of platform services/APIs with reusability in mind, balancing immediate business needs with future use cases.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve organizational efficiencies.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Deep understanding of designing reusable platform services (shared APIs, common frameworks, foundational services) to enable downstream product teams to scale.
- Proven expertise in designing and delivering scalable, cloud‑native distributed systems, platform services, and APIs, and driving engineering best practices across quality, performance, reliability, security, and automation.
- Operational excellence: ability to detect systemic issues early, manage risk proactively, and drive corrective actions across teams and services.
- Experience with NVIDIA ecosystem technologies such as Omniverse, OpenUSD/USD, Isaac Sim, or equivalent simulation/digital twin platforms.
- Practical experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot) to accelerate code generation, boilerplate reduction, and automated testing.
- Proven ability to set a clear platform and engineering vision and drive multiple complex initiatives in parallel within a large organization of 20+ software engineers.
This position requires the candidate to be based in Irving, TX (Dallas). Domestic relocation assistance, visa sponsorship, and other benefits are available.
