Pool Manager (Seasonal Full-Time | Salary Exempt)

The Nelson Golf & Sports Club - Irving, TX

Position Details
  • Status: Full-time Seasonal (Exempt / Salary)
  • Compensation: $55,000 annually
  • Reports To: Director of Fitness
  • Season Duration: Must be available to start by early April. Pool operations begin the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week / 5 days per week, including weekends and holidays
    • Required Holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day
    • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this role
  • Location Requirement: Irving, TX 75038 - must be able to reliably commute or relocate prior to start date
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and participate in vigorous physical activity related to pool operations, both indoors and outdoors.

Job Summary

The Nelson Golf & Sports Club ("The Nelson") is a fine private country club offering premier amenities, including a world-class golf course, exquisite dining, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and a vibrant social calendar.

The Pool Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering an exceptional Member and Guest experience while overseeing safe, efficient, and high-quality pool operations. Under the leadership of the Director of Fitness, this position leads the outdoor Member pool team in staffing, training, scheduling, safety oversight, and execution of pool operations, events, and major holiday programming.

Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to pool opening)
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience required
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and/or Lifeguard Certification preferred
  • Experience working in an aquatic facility, country club, recreation, or related environment preferred
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, reliability, strong work ethic, and initiative
  • Proven commitment to excellence in customer service and hospitality
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including managing schedules, staffing, and operational checklists
  • Skilled in event planning and execution (including large-scale holiday events)
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and committed to continuous improvement
  • Flexible, adaptable, and empathetic leadership style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn Club management systems/technology quickly
Primary Responsibilities

The Pool Manager must be skilled in all job requirements with the ability to independently lead and complete all responsibilities with little supervision.

Leadership & Team Management
  • Set the standard and hold all team members accountable for delivering a safe, professional, and exceptional Member experience
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train Pool staff (Lifeguards and Pool Attendants)
  • Train and develop team members on Club and department policies, rules, procedures, and performance expectations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational procedures, training plans, checklists, and staff resources
  • Address personnel and performance issues appropriately, including disciplinary action up to and including termination
  • Promote teamwork, engagement, and a positive workplace culture through team-building and staff recognition efforts
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to inform, train, and motivate the team
  • Develop weekly schedules that meet operational and safety requirements; adjust schedules as needed to ensure shift coverage
  • Review and approve timecards promptly for payroll processing; ensure accuracy and resolve issues as needed
  • Coordinate and execute pool activities and events, including holiday pool parties (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed, including Kids' Club, Tennis, and Golf Operations
  • Maintain professional and harmonious working relationships with coworkers and Club leadership
Pool Operations & Safety
