Job Description

Dedicated yard switchers play a critical role in our customer's transportation needs by ensuring the timely movement of trailers in and out of the docks on-site at the customer's location. Unlike some positions, this one gives you a better idea of the number of hours each week holds, which means you'll have a better idea of what to expect in every paycheck.

And because you know your customers and their typical freight load, you'll never be surprised or slowed down by unusual shipments.

* CDL-A is not required as the switcher will not leave the property.
* As a Dedicated Yard Switcher, you can expect:

* This is an entry level position, a CDL-A license is not required

* Competitive pay:

* Average $1,540 per week / $80,080 a year (minimum)

* Starting pay of $28 per hour

* Average 50+ hours a week

* Overtime paid at time and a half

* Home daily

* Sunday - Thursday

* 10-hour shifts with one hour for lunch

* Shifts below are assigned weekly:

* 6:30 p.m.

- 4:30 a.m.

* 7:00 p.m.

- 5:00 a.m.

* 8:00 p.m.

- 6:00 a.m.

* All drop and hook, no-touch freight!

* Ensuring the timely movement of trailers in and out of the docks on-site at the customer's location

* Will train for minimum of 2 weeks at our Dallas service center before working at customer facility

Job Requirements

* Must live within a 75-mile radius

* Must have 3 months' verifiable tractor-trailer and/or switching experience within past 3 years

* Must be 21 years of age or older

* No convictions for reckless driving within the past 5 years

* No convictions for DUI within the past 5 years

* No suspensions or revocations within the last 5 years

* No serious violations within the previous 12 months (15 mph or greater, following too closely, improper passing, traffic offense committed in a CMV in connection with fatality)

* No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years

* No preventable DOT recordable accidents within the past 3 years

Essential functions:

* Open/Close trailer door - force requirement: 46 lbs

* Hook/Unhook trailer - force requirement: 90 lbs

* Perform pre-trip inspections

* Drive

* Regular predictable attendance

* Frequent bending for placement of wheel chocks

* Safely enter/exit yard tractor 100+ times per shift

* Lifting/opening trailer doors

* Sliding trailer tandems when necessary

* Safely maneuvering equipment with good backing skills
